Tape, pin, staple or otherwise affix a dollar bill somewhere in a public place with a lot of foot traffic. For example: tape a dollar bill to a muni turnstile, or pin the dollar bill on a lost and found board in your local laundromat, under "Found". Other ideas: pin a dollar to a tree or tape it to a parked bike seat.

Now, retreat to a distance where you can watch unobserved. Take photos if possible. Watch who notices the dollar bill. How long does it take for the dollar bill to be noticed? If someone takes it, do they do it furtively? Guiltily? Defiantly?
