Glove Slap by Lank, Blue, anna one, Ohrlyeh Totenkinder

June 28th, 2007 2:50 PM / Location: 37.821437,-122.2880

INSTRUCTIONS: Challenge another player to a duel.

[please note, per the task's creator: there must be a duel - document, no less]

I, Lank, hereby challenge Shalàhco to a duel.

(or whatever crafty name you are going by now) The subject of this challenge is the besmirching of the honor (and skin) of the lady by the name of anna one. The incident in question is documented here: Not-So-Fun Accident

Fun accident, indeed! Look at the bruises! Read about the pain!

Here are my initial rules:

The date of our match must needs be June 2nd or 3rd, TBD.

Our match will take place in Golden Gate Park, exact location TBD.

The lady in question shall choose the weapons with which we are to duel.*

Each of us must choose a second. I'm not sure what they're for, but they'll be collaborators and they'll have to be there and they'll get points for this task, too.

Further detail will be ironed out in the coming days. Check back on this page for updates.

I slap you with a low-res electronic red leather glove, sir! Bring it!

* NOTE: The weapons of choice need not be of a nature that will cause any more than minor physical damage. In fact, the weapons of choice can, and perhaps preferably should, revolve around the demonstration of the competitors' mad skilz in some sort of feat, to be determined by the aforementioned lady.

I Shalàhco(or whatever my name is)…
hereby accept your challenge!!!

The Duel!!!

So it was upon the good advice of Sir Poon For the Seafood Esquire that we decided to resolve the duel through Dance Dance Immolation

Basically it is Dance Dance Revolution with a little attitude…
that being that while you are dancing there are flamethrowers pointed at you and if you mess up you get set on fire!
It brings to mind the term… Disco Inferno!

And remember: No killing each other except in designated player-killing zones!

I'm weighing in:

...to request suggestions from the SF0 community on dueling weapons. Many have already been submitted, but I feel that it is in my best interest to consider all options. May the many-headed prevail!

Perhaps dip the sausages in paint first? Or Mustard.

The other party of the original drunk-brunch (a non-player) suggests that the boys wrestle it out in a vat of jello. Duly noted.

My first(1st) choice for Second(2nd) works until 9:30 on Saturday…

Ah… damn… where am i supposed to find a Second(2nd) Second(2nd) with such short notice?

huh?

Sunday
posted by Lank on May 30th, 2007 2:48 PM

The latest suggestion of a time is Sunday at high noon. This is apropos because duels were traditionally held at dawn, and noon is the new dawn.

Can your second do noon Sunday? Can mine? Do I have one?

I think that the usefulness of seconds includes determining the exact locale for the duel and inspecting the weapons (if that's even going to be possible - ooh, now that I think about it, it kinda sounds dirty...)

No no no…
posted by Blue on May 30th, 2007 5:40 PM

NEITHER MY Second(2) Nor MY Second(2) Second(2) can do sunday at noon.
One works the other cannot play SFØ on the Sabath

Why Not
posted by Malaysian Eddy on May 30th, 2007 5:45 PM

Have a late night duel....or duel at dawn? If you all did the duel thingie at dawn....we could all go get an excellent after duel breakfast.

you mean
posted by Lank on May 30th, 2007 6:01 PM

Saturday or Sunday at dawn? Hopefully meaning "relatively early in the morning" rather than actual dawn. DEAR GOD PLEASE NOT 5:30AM!

I'm down for late at night too - just makes it trickier to find a location with enough light to capture the event on fil'm.

(no subject)
posted by Malaysian Eddy on May 30th, 2007 8:48 PM

Yeah....shouldn't be that tricky. We could probably find a place.

It has been getting pretty cold and windy up here at night.
I'l still do it… just thought you should know…
also don't know about Golden Gate Park at night… never been.
We could always do it in my playground

(no subject)
posted by anna one on May 31st, 2007 8:18 PM

ha ha ha... you guys can go fight in Patsy's playground, but in that case you'll have to count me out.

Weapon choice will take into consideration the cold. (ie. No pudding, no jello. Sorry. My shower is the closest to GG. No pudding in my livingroom.)

Yeah…
posted by Blue on May 31st, 2007 10:21 PM

I think in that case you would have to count the bloody duel out cause we would to busy fending off zombie like crack fiends!!!

I just noticed this little bit of info on the ol' news page:
"We've also decided to (informally) add player dueling to SFZero, based on Sean's rules. If you'd like to have a duel-by-task-completion, contact us and we'll put you on the front page. Winners get special dueling badges, honor, etc.."

When there's badges involved, I think some kind of task-based weapon might just be what I settle on. Incorporate feats of strength, prowess and/or PVC into that idea- there's just 23 hours left to decide.

So Sean, do you get a badge for participation, or only for being satisfied?

Sooo…

are we still up for a real live duel…

the set list for their battle was....

Danger! High Voltage: Electric Six
Baby Got Back: Sir Mix-Allot
Kung-Fu Fighting: bad cover band (I wish there was video of the pre-match posturing on this one it was Proc-Suit comic genius!)

Lank won every match.....but both contestants worked it with equal style and presence.
