And I know this doesn't really follow the letter of the task, as I haven't painted her, but it does say I can use any medium I like, so I chose packing tape as my medium. This is what a painting in packing tape looks like.
Also, what I'm going to do is give it to Bex when next I see her. Because she deserves it.
And this is how it was done.
And an update late 2009: I added a few ASCII portraits that I did for fun, and because I was inspired by Palindromedary's take on this task. You can find those below.

An ethereal action-figure, so damn perfect!
Plus pushing the all new and wonderful Saran-tape technique-TM to the limits of beauty. So good to be awake on nights like this.
Lincoln is cooler than Harrison Ford
How do you do it? No really, how?
I am looking forward to this mystery praxis that will explain all...
You got my vote and my admiration for the sculpture alone, but the comedy poses just take the cake. I think I might put you into my will.
I agree that having pioneered this amazing translucent sculpting technique, you should definitely apply and extend it to more tasks.
I don't know how you do it, but I salute you for it. An excellent three-dimensional portrait.
I would imagine that Bex often leaps away from exploding things in slow motion.
awesome, Lincoln. I didn't think one could add beauty to that picture (it was full up), but somehow you stuffed some on top. Like beauty gravy, you are!
ohmigaw. I can't believe i just saw this. So damn flattered.
And its true, I do regularly jump away from exploding things, with my invisibility suit on, even. (well, even if it doesn't make me invisible, the suit is invisible).
Lincoln, you barefoot taskstar you, you rock my saran wrap booties off. In slow motion.
A little bit of an update, because I was inspired Palindromedary's take on the task. I had never tried this new ASCII artform before and had to try it out. And since there is absolutely nothing wrong with updating old tasks, I have done that here.
I think you can make a career in the art-world with this new fangled technique.
