Player Portrait by Burn Unit
January 2nd, 2008 12:06 AM
So here's what I'm gonna do
Further appropriating an already appropriated idea, I'm going to make teensy weensy Interregnum player portraits for anyone who wants one bad enough to do any of the following:
1) Show your drive: Achieve the first page, by score during this era (Interregnum). Once you reach first page, message me to notify me you've seen this proof and have made it to first page and you want your portrait. I'm not gonna watch and keep track, so you're going to have to tell me. You don't have to stay there for any length of time, but you can't get there by just submitting a bunch of b.s. proofs that all get flagged. If things get fast and furious you might need to screenshot your appearance on first page before messaging me.
OR
2) Show your understanding of SF0 economic theory: Collaborate with me on a task of your choosing that we can reasonably achieve in the Interregnum. (please don't just add me, message me first)
OR
3) Show the love: Vote for this completion. (Interregnum is an era of discontinuity, so discontinuous with my other patterns of behavior, campaigns notwithstanding, or comments I've made criticizing vote-whining, here is one of the few times you will see me nakedly asking for your votes)
All three options close at the inauguration of Insatiability. Portraits not completed by then will still be done during next era.
Two further pot-sweeteners:
You will receive both a digital version and the hard copy original of the tiny portrait. Current front page players who haven't already, you'll have to send me your address to get the portraits I've made for this initial proof.
Since this is inspired by my vision of players as stamps, top row players at the close of Interregnum (i.e., the top four, including The Interrex) who have voted for this proof will get your tiny portrait as a sheet of U.S. stamps at my expense. (non-US players we'll work something out if necessary--looks like the UK does it)
Now I know that unlike Dax, I am not a professionally trained portraitist, so my faces look cartoony and crude. Also my sense of proportion is way off. And I mess up the colors sometimes. And I things put in the wrong position. And there may be better ways to do it.
But to everyone's advantage and delight, they're teeny, which is a whole 'nother category of fun and awesome!
Thank you for your time!
tiny player portraits for some, tiny american flags for others!

I feel super special for being on the first page for the first time ever! Lucky me. Thanks for painting me.
However, this vote isn't just because I'm flattered. I really like the commissioning idea. Bribery gets things done!
I think the one of Bex is my favorite :)
These are so cute, I love the one of Shane! I'd vote anyway even without the so-called bribery. ; )
What do we UK players need to do for our portraits??
Adorable! I think SF0 could use a good dollop of cute every now and again. And that is a great idea to do them as stamps.
Burn, this is truly awesome. I want to vote lots of times.
I will PM you my address to claim my teeny portrait.
This is an awesome completion, I will also PM you my address.
Perhaps you should keep an SF0 address book.
This is great and I love the stamps idea. I would vote for this regardless of bribery, but who I am to turn away a bribe that encourages me to do something besides stress myself out about the coming year?
This is incredibly awesome.
Go Unit!
Super great. I'm really looking forward to seeing the stamps.
umm... i just realized how damn detailed the herbie hatman portrait is... bravo bravissimo!
So, did all the tiny portraits were done and sent? Which one was made into a postal stamp?
My gods, man. I will meet all three of your requirements!
