Description:
This is the SFZEROPRACTICAL - a practical SAT for a practical game!
The SFZEROPRACTICAL has started! GO GO GO GO GO!
You will NOT be asked about the history of the game. You will NOT be required to regurgitate memorized facts. You will NOT even have to write anything. After all, isn't this what SFZERO is about? Getting up and doing things?
You will be judged on your ability to survive the SAT. Oh, and your answers, of course. And we're giving you 2 whole weeks to complete the SAT! Oh boy, that's FOURTEEN DAYS of your life! The test will be released on 8 June.
All answers must be handed in by the deadline, 22 June. A panel of judges and my pet monkey Oswald will then rigorously check the submissions and grade them.
Here's the SFZEROPRACTICAL!

Too bad I thought of that comment before I... scrolled down...
Is there any way of bribing your pet monkey Oswald?
A huge pile of bananas, for example?
No props to me for coming up with the whole "practical" idea? Tsk, fine!
Passive aggression! It's the best kind!
I'll be out of town for the end of it, which means I have less time than most and will likely suck. But I'm sure as hell giving it a try.
If you can't find a way to task while travelling, you're not trying hard enough.
Tasking is very much planned.
Unfortunately internet access is not planned, which means I wouldn't be able to turn in the answers while away.
I'm thinking circus peanuts.
Sadly, there's only one team.
Anything that has only one team is not a suitable gummy bear alternative.
On the other hand, being very bricklike in their form, the peanuts would be a superior building material.
Humans : lumber :: gummies : circus peanuts.
Incorrect. Gummies are an excellent building material. With their versatile bear shape and bright colors they are practically Legos.
I dunno, I think if I were a gummy, I would find the idea of living in a house made from my fellow gummies kind of disturbing.
Just to be clear: Are we required to do the warm ups? Or are they optional?
Good question. I was confused by that myself.
Also: If they are optional, do they affect our score? Or do we not get to know?
The SAT clearly states you must perform the warmup before proceeding to the extended response questions.
We at the examining board take safety very seriously, wouldn't want anyone pulling a tasking muscle would we?
We at the examining board take safety very seriously
Crap.
We also take no responsibility for any injuries caused by the SAT.
Go nuts!
You at the examining board clearly do not take the safety of gummies seriously.
The gummies have a clear tactical advantage over other players in the GULA modifier.
Their safety was also disregarded, due to the fact that they are too awesome to need safety. They may take extra precautions if they wish. I suggest them staying away from other players completing the SAT as much as possible.
Will the gummies get gula-modifier points on their tasks if/when they are nommed in other people's tests?
They most certainly will. The exam board hopes this makes up for the disregard for gummy safety.
We look forward to your results.
We also take no responsibility for any injuries caused by the SAT.
So far my roommate remains safe. I'll have to ask him tomorrow evening if things have changed.
The examining body does not condone murder, despite the amount of bonus points received.
You hear that?
That's the sound of me being intimidated.
Eh, it's not so bad.
(I may already have completed one problem out of the main section. After finishing the warm-ups.)
The exam board are sorry you feel this way, it is normal to get nervous before and during a test, perhaps it's exam stress?
I requested clarification from Tom via Skype on that exact point last night.
Apparently not - though of course the warm-ups must be done before the extended responses.
And must they be as fast as possible? Or just make sure to complete them within the time limit?
I don't know.
But I do know Tom challenged me to finish the test in 24 hours, and I'm damn well going to try.
Just make sure to get all the extended response questions finished within the time limit (remember to warmup first!).
No order necessary, just like a real test.
Clarification please: for questions that contain an "OR" option, would the bears be penalized for doing both options?
The gummies are unsure as to whether completing both options will be rewarded (since the answer is more thorough) or penalized (because if the question says do one OR the other, so doing both might violate the spirit of the question).
The gummies are welcome to complete both parts of an OR question, and will not be penalized for doing so.
A winner is you. 24 hours for a 2 week test?
You've got a long period of watching the clock, tapping your pen and falling victim to nodding exam syndrome.
Who can tell? I'm having a hard time with it.
I apologize profusely, but I will be unable to complete this event until further notice.
I just have no confidence in my ability to perform any of the challenges.
I did attempt it. I couldn't even complete the warm-up. It was very discouraging.
At least I'm not the only one. I feel slightly better now.
We should build a team of SATunderachievers.
Attention participants, you have now reached the halfway point in the exam.
You now have one week remaining.
Remember to leave time to check your work and put out any fires you may have started.
Thank you.
I think I'm about ready to start the test any day now.
what are speed holes? I can't find a translation
There isn't one, to my knowledge.
It could be a reference to speed bumps, which are those bumps in roads designed to make you not go so fast. Or it could just mean some very quickly made holes. Or something else.
Ok, I might skip that one. How are you dealing with this test? Are you doing all tasks or just the fun part?
The gummies are doing just the fun part. Which is all of it.
This makes me feel bad now, gummies, you are so ambitious and I think of skipping tasks on my first test-day. hmm. I will try to follow your example... speed holes are fun!
Do not feel bad, babe hawaii! You are made out of awesome, and the gummies are confident that you will do a lovely job with the tasks on the test.
(And yes, speed holes are fun.)
The gummies have completed the SFZEROPRACTICAL. They will now join Doktor Harmon in watching the clock, tapping their pen, and falling victim to nodding exam syndrome.
I cannot do the test now because I didn't bring all the right equipment to the examination room.
Basically my camera is broken.
Sorry.
The gummies are now bored with watching the clock, tapping their pen, and falling victim to nodding exam syndrome. So they have created a special mini-feature entitled:
SFZEROPRACTICAL: UR DOIN IT WRONG
Iz not recommended to take test upside down. SFZEROPRACTICAL iz hard even upside up.
It LOOKS like warm blanket, but SFZEROPRACTICAL should not be completed while sleeping.
The SFZEROPRACTICAL iz not for nomming. It does not haz a flavah.
Do NOT nom on teh gummies. They hatez it.
(Srsly. Question #7 - DO NOT WANT)
Sorry fellows, but I'm going to have to bow out and take an F on this one.
Completing it in an interesting way would take more time than I can spare. Completing it in an uninteresting way would take more time than it would be worth.
I look forward to seeing what others do with it.
noes! i have to drop out of completing this test, which is very sad because i had some very exciting ideas for some of the questions. i hope to incorporate some of those ideas into other tasks. but, being about to head out of my normal living and playing zones for a week, and with many loose ends to tie up before then, there is no way i can complete this in time.
i may however turn it in late. the SFZEROPRACTICAL board is encouraged to dock my score by some undetermined number of points for each day late it is turned in. perhaps if i turn it in late enough, i could exactly balanced my earned points with my deducted points, and score a zero!
but then i wouldn't really have zero points
I'm out.
This test is fun and I would have loved to complete it, but it's too big for only the weekends and work is crazy right now.
Oh, that is so so very helpful.
Now I don't have to scramble to get it edited in time. Thank you rulers of the test.
The Warm-up.
The Practical Part One.
The Practical Part Two.
At first, the gummies were very happy that they had not received any apologies. They assumed that this meant that no one was completing 'Be Evil' (nom an entire team of gummy bears. Apologize afterwards).
It appears, however, that this assumption was unwarranted. Watching your practical exam video made the gummies very sad.
The gummies had not yet seen this other video. They are saddened at the loss of the British red team, and will watch the incoming mail for any sign of the apology letter.
Erm, were we supposed to upload it here? I sent everything in the email...
No. Email is the correct means of submitting.
Jeez, every Tom, Dick and Harry does these things nowadays.
