Now then, how many stowaways can you fit in your luggage?

posted by Sombrero Guy on March 31st, 2009 12:16 PM

Probably not as many as would like to come...

stowaways make me happy.... Tom, you know you can stay with me whenever you like... that pretty much goes for all of GYØ, seeing as I love you all to pieces.

The first week of this is right before Burning Man. I'll be coming up to San Francisco anyway. I may as well come up early to meet Adam, right? I'll make it happen.

I had a dream a few nights ago that all four of you (original) GYØers showed up at my house. Tom knocked on the door, and when I opened it and saw him standing there I almost didn't recognize him. He was tall, and standing up real straight and his long hair looked regal and not at all unkept. And then Adam rushed up full of joy and he was dancing from foot to foot like an anxious child, and Daryl sheepishly said hi. And then I saw Ben standing a few feet away, he was shyly looking at his feet, I walked up to him and he hugged me. We hugged for a pretty long time. He cried a little bit. But didn't say anything. And then we all went off somewhere together, I think maybe we were planning on doing a task or going off on a road trip or an adventure of some kind. I forget. Dreams are weird.

My plans so far include a few places I really want to see:

- Fisherman's Wharf
- SF Museum of Modern Art / Yerba Buena Gardens
- Haight Street
- Ferry Building / Financial District
- UoC, Berkley Campus
- de Young Museum
- Japan Center
- Sutro Baths
- Sutro Tower

I'd also love to take a day trip to Salinas or Napa Valley or somesuch so I can live out my dreams of how life exists in Of Mice and Men (with less killing) and Sideways (with less Sandrah Oh).

This is really just a list of places that looked cool in the guidebook and on SF0. I would love for people to show me places that are definetly not in the guidebook. I'd really love to see some obscure films whilst I'm there too, any good arthouse cinemas (especially for foreign films with subtitles) do let me know.

Heh. Got it covered Love. You just get yourself here and send me an updated list about a week before hand and we'll be golden.

I'm pretty sure the Urban Picnic Society will host a picnic in your honor. It's not often we have visiting dignitaries from the Coast Britain Branch.

Also, aren't you missing the park what used to have Doorhenge in it? That seems like a vital item to include in the list...

I heartily agree. I've had a few more thoughts:

- San Francisco Railway Museum (railways! I love railways)
- Westfield San Francisco (not to do much shopping more to just get an idea of what shops are like in the US, don't ask me why but going to a mall in Paris and Koln absolutely fascinated me, I get really excited by the simplest of things.)
- City Lights Bookshop
- Jack Kerouac Avenue (one of my favourite authours)
- The beach (I dunno, it's gonna be the height of summer but then the Pacific ocean is pretty chilly)

Of course I doubt I'll be able to do some of this stuff but it's always good to have things you want to do. Oh and I want to visit a supermarket, my geeky "omg cultures other than mine are so different" head is fixed on.

There's a grocery store I'd like to take you to. Mostly because I want to watch you laugh at the 'British' section, which consists mostly of Heinz canned beans.

posted by Adam on April 23rd, 2009 9:08 AM

Wave organ too.

Ah I'd love to see a British section, some reverse shoplifting may be in order. :3
The American section in a supermarket nearby consists of Bac-os, Reese's Cups and Twinkies.

Im flying through Philidelphia. That's sorta close. Ok it's not. But it's not as far away as Las Vegas. America is too big.

You'd have to try and get into the flight transfer center though as I only have an hour or two on the way back.

Update
posted by Minch on June 21st, 2009 2:00 PM

Adam's flight had some delays. He will not be in SF until either midnight or tomorrow, depending on the flight they bump him to. If you were planning to "surprise" him at the air port, you will want to wait till you hear from me.

PM me for my number if you don't already have it.

Minch (needs her Ginger Blokey)!

posted by Adam on June 25th, 2009 10:23 PM

Anyone who wants to play you can get me through Keller's cell phone, SF0, Facebook, Telegram or Pony Express.

(no subject)
posted by teucer on June 25th, 2009 11:59 PM

Does Pony Express take passengers? Because if you ever decided you wanted to visit the other coast, we'd be glad to have you.

There aren't so many of us here, but I assure you we are still cool.

I dont believe it does. I could take the Tsunami Evacuation route and meet you half way in, say, Chicago or maybe Rapid Falls.

As a visitor to SF0 myself RIGHT NOW I wouldn't mind trying some tasking and meeting some people down here, especially not a storied GY0er!

I want to thank everyone for the amazing time I've had here. Everyone especially Keller who was put up with me for 3 and a half weeks.
