Neither being English.... what if there are three or more people speaking more than two languages?

Also, does Middle English count as English? Scots?

Interesting questions.

I'm afraid the "neither should be English" was the admin's (excellent) addition to the task.

I'd say, given a sympathetic reading of the task, every character must speak in a way that is not immediately intelligible to someone who knows only modern American English.

In the case of Middle English or Scots, a satisfactory completion will require scholarly precision in the relevant language and sufficiently awesome dialog to outweigh any similarities to English.
