Verbally explain the non-consumer leisure activity that has enriched and/or consumed your life to someone completely unfamiliar with even the concept of ARGs... in a single, coherent sentence.
Record their initial reaction to your statement and have them rate its efficacy and accuracy once they obtain their own understanding of said activity (by any means, the very minimum being a 'walk-through' style tour of the website and its workings).

I've seen you explain it to people in this manner, it seems to confuse most people.
Well, sure.
But the confusion isn't about the words, it's about the awesome.
People cannot handle the incredible amount of unexpected awesome.
They have no basis from which to compare the awesome of SFØ to anything else.
In that case, you need an explosion of some sort.
"SFØ is a game that takes place in your mind and body that can be played alone or in groups where there are no winners and the consequences of playing affect your life and the way you live it." (I know that's a bit of a run-on sentence but SFØ is a bit of a run-on game) (Also, I usually add in a bit where I say "The rules, instructions and proof of gameplay all occur online, but you cannot play the game online, this is a real life, real world game that can only be played by living."
