A zero level complete of this task. I decided to write a postcard to my grandfather, apologising for not being in touch recently. I haven't contacted him since my Grandmother's funeral at the start of this year. I've been feeling a bit guilty about this, as I WAS going down to see them every few weeks for the year or so she was sick... Lately it's seemed like other things were more important, but you never really know when someone's going to go, and he's getting on...

This task made me pause to think. Who do I write to regularly? Who do I miss? Is there an old school friend I haven't spoken to in while? Someone far away that I would like to get back in touch with? Thanks to Facebook. No. No there isn't. They're a...

Renew An Old Correspondence by Blue April 2nd, 2007 3:40 PM

Ok, so I am not sure that this counts because the person I reconected with I had never heard talked to before. She is my Sister, technically half sister, but I do not take count of my family members with fractions; it's all or none. She is four yea...

I recently received a book of poetry by Edna St. Vincent Millay. The person who gave me this book had no idea that I have any associations with her poetry, nor do I think anyone knows. My best friend growing up was somewhat obsessed with the poet, ...

Renew An Old Correspondence by Ben Whitehouse January 22nd, 2008 12:28 AM

During an idle non-coffee break at work I thought I'd look up some old faces on facebook. Lots of names to personally conjure with but one absent. My best friend Nick. Then I did a bit of internet dectective work and found that 7/8 years ago he'd b...

Renew An Old Correspondence by Beetle bomb January 5th, 2008 1:04 AM

In Fourth Grade I met my friend Kristin at Summer Camp. We didn't live near each other so we decided to become pen pals, although both of us being woefully unspectacular at wrighting consistantly we managed to send the occasional letter and managed t...

Renew An Old Correspondence by Celina June 28th, 2006 12:51 PM

I stumbled upon an old friend's information in the phone book. Last I heard of him he was living in another state so I was surprised to find a recent local listing. On one of the nights I couldn't sleep, I composed this poorly written letter to hi...

May 18, 2006 Dad, It’s been 15 years. I don’t remember if I called you “Dad.” Maybe this letter should have been addressed to “Daddy.” I really can’t remember though. That’s actually a common theme; not remembering. I know...

Renew An Old Correspondence by Water Dragon October 24th, 2006 1:52 AM

A number of years ago a friend and I had a falling out after I outstayed my welcome at his place. At the time he said he would never forgive me. He moved away and then I did the same. We haven't spoken or written in probably 5 years. So I decided to ...

Dear Sense of Human Decency, Where have you been? It’s been so long. We’ve missed you. We haven’t heard from you in about six years now and, to be honest, we’re beginning to feel like we’ve lost you. Rumor had it that you were spotted a...

Father, You've seen me once or twice as an infant, I have no memory of these visits. Not a month goes by that I am not reminded of your absence in my life. The most difficult reminder of the void is when I see my peers interacting with their fathers...
