Enough of your scattered, rough poetry. Little scraps of muddy insight. Colorless and convoluted: you have offended me and my perception of valuable poetry.

And enough of your callous criticisms of my honest attempts at critiquing and offering information!! It's not about grammar, B-Unit, it's about style and content.

This calls for war.

Since you've already been glove-slapped around, I'll take pity on you (and your pride) and let you call the shots and choose the task. Deadline: Midnight, December 1st.

road trips are great and buses make them even better. last august the former sf0 players, the EGBT crew bought a 1953 greyhound bus for a few hundred dollars and we went on a road trip. which was awesome. except for that (needless to say), the bus that only cost a few hundred dollars barely made it there and didn't make it back.

it was especially cool, because the bus was wired to provide high speed satellite internet to the many computers in the bus. and we threw a generator in there and i was the official DJ. and we had couches and a large TV. i suspect it wasn't street legal...

but i'd be willing to help alter the bus if such a service is needed. i'm no mechanic though

Hey, I live in Geneva, which is about 30 miles west of Chicago. I would be delighted if the party bus decided to make a stop in Geneva and I'd be willing to host a little party for the bus. As an added bonus my house can sleep a whole bunch of people (4 extra beds, 4 couches, lots of comfy carpeted floor) so it would be okay for the bus to crash here for a night. I'd need dates but the offer is on the table crazy bus people.

It's been two months since this has been discussed at all. My schedule is still clear from May 17th - 25th. Is this still happening? Herbie?

Diesel.
posted by Herbie Hatman on April 25th, 2008 12:11 PM

Diesel is expensive in many ways. Right now after the math is done the calculator tells us that using the bus is a simple financial equation; One dollar per one mile traveled. That's just for the gas. Not the oil ("If it's not leakin' it, burnin' it, or at least covered in it then it's dead"). Or when a $800 wheel repair happens. Or tune ups.. or...

The bus is expensive.

This being said I see a few avenues.

If our friend Chicken John would like to still use it with us, and we can raise the funds to do so let's do it.

(I still think that a week is not enough time to get to Chicago and back.)

We could use other modes of transport (i.e. other buses and trains and the like). Traveling in a pack will be fun regardless of how we do it.

I'd love to go on a road trip with y'all.

I love trains. Love. Trains. But they get you there too fast?

If people pitched in we could maybe rent one of those big huge vans that they use to take the inmates of the loony bin to the park in?

I'm free from the afternoon of the 22nd to the afternoon of the 26th or 27th. +1
posted by Herbie Hatman on May 1st, 2008 6:14 PM

I don't care about going "too fast".

Think it would be nice to have an adventure a bunch of different initial-initial-Zeros.

For example:

SF0 goes to LA0. SF0+LAO head East.

Meanwhile MN0 meets up with SL0 and CG0. They head south.

DC0 (man, I'm bad at geography) heads southwest.

You get the idea. We figure out at which station we will meet. Get on one train. Go all together to another city.

It seems that even with trains being "too fast" it still takes 34 hours to get to Emeryville, CA to Denver, CO. 22 from SF to Seattle. 22 to Boise. 18 to Salt Lake. amtrak.jpg

I think an extravagant hobo party would be delightful.

SLØ loves this idea! SLØ also loves trains. A train requires nothing more than a ticket and punctuality. No fuel, no drivers, no baggage x-rays, no assigned seats. We'll dress sharp, put on our most exotic accents, and play outdated parlor games in the dining car.
