Description:

April 29th, 2008 is the first Annual Let Someone Else Plan Your Day Day!

(Retake! is tenatively set to begin on May13th. I will be doing 3-5 cities for the 13th. I will do another 3-5 for the 20th, and the last remaining ones on the 27th. I will release a city schedule date on Monday.)

Release total control of your life to an anonymous source that supplies you with instructions and directions!

Who knows where the night will lead you!?! Who will you meet? What will you do? Even you won't know, as you're doing it.

Sounds exciting, right? A night full of possibilities!

To begin, sign up for the event.

Once you are signed up, send an email to Sf0Planner@gmail.com stating your player name, city, and state/country. You may also include your general area in the city so you aren't sent out too far if you prefer.

Then await further instructions.

You are absolutely not to share your instructions with anyone else participating in this event!

Non-players are also welcome to partcipate. If you have a friend, have them email with their information as well, and they will be included. You may also sign up as a team. Teams of any size will be permitted, though many smaller teams will make for a better event then a few larger ones, so try to keep them small!

Day or night?

Your schedule can be worked with as long as you include any schedule limitations in your intial email to Sf0Planner@gmail.com.

Will playing Let Someone Else Plan Your Day Day also involve planning days for other players? Or does participating only entail receiving plans to follow?

posted by Sf0Planner on April 14th, 2008 3:16 PM

The possibilities are limitless, almost anything may be involved in your day, including giving another instructions.

You can also count on having some sort of personal interaction with players in your area at some point in your day, assuming you have other players in your area.

If you'd rather help organize then play, you may send that request to Sf0Planner@gmail.com. I wouldn't mind a few helping hands at orchestrating this. However, if you help plan, you can't play, obviously.

It sounds great, but it's a Tuesday! I have to go to school and will the instructions mess around with that? Would I not be able to do it until I get home, would I go somewhere instead of school, would I go places during school. I might even have rehearsals for the school musical which would end at four and then a half an hour on the bus home. I'm always iffy about giving my address out, but it makes sense I guess. I also havfe no transportation, especially on the weekdays.

Fun idea. Not so good in practice.

posted by Sf0Planner on April 14th, 2008 4:32 PM

It won't interfer with anything you have to do, just include that in your intial email and it will get planned around. Technical, it's more of a letting someone else plan your night, as I figured most people would be at school/work till five or so, so most instructions won't begin till six, though it can be anytime during the day if your schedule requires it.

It also doesn't require giving out your address, in fact, you shouldn't, just the city you live in. If you don't have any transportation outside of your feet, you may want to include the general area/neighborhood you are in, so you don't get sent very far.

I'd personally suggest playing solo or in pairs, as I think it will be the most fun that way.

Remember that unless you are the only one playing in your city, even if you are playing solo, you'll probably have encounters with the other players, so you won't be alone the whole time.

I would sign up, but I do this every day. I wouldn't be able to tell you what has to be planned around, because I don't find out most days what my work schedule is until the morning of.

Nonetheless, I like this idea. Oh well.

The weekend would be easier for me as well, but that's why I like that this is on a weeknight. It'll make it more of a challenge. I wonder if that's why the planner chose it.

At the current moment, I would like to decline to reschedule this event. I aplogize once again if this negates your ability to partcipate.

>how did it go?

It was unbearably horrible and agonizing. Most of us will require years of therapy to recover.

>What happened?

Video karaoke, body surfing, a lecture on biblical historiography, a giant game of cat's cradle, two tattoos, one broken arm, and much public brushing of teeth.

>Who encountered whom?

Mob Steppe and Avid encountered Eddy and Binx. The rest of us were mostly hiding in the bushes actively trying to avoid each other.

>What is the planner's secret identity?

It's Sam.

Note: those of you who want accurate answers will just have to wait for the praxis.

The reschedule date is tenatively set for May13th. (I do pick a weekday for a valid reason, I assure you. Three valid reasons actually.)

I hope that those whom have received instructions already enjoyed themselves, and I hope that my rushing to put together those few didn't dampen the overall feel too much.

To all others, I apologize that I had to reschedule, but I have not forgotten you, nor have I abandoned you. I've opened the event back up to new sign ups also.

Ah ha! Now I can cross one name off of my top ten list.

Except, of course, that Jackie *knew* that by admitting to being the planner we'd all assume she isn't the planner. Which means that as the planner, it would be the perfect strategy. Damn. Back on the list she goes.

But she's right - it really is a lot of fun. Sign up, if you haven't. And show up if you have.

Yay!

posted by Sf0Planner on May 2nd, 2008 10:58 PM

I will attempt to give SF another chance, though it will be my lowest priority city, as I have already given SF a chance once. Most likely, if they do, it'll be on the 27th, and it's completely hinged on time constraints.

I know this might sound boring but I am working and would prefer to know it before, so that I can arrange to be flexible and without appointments on that day.
And: do I have to write that e-mail again for the retake? Or is the last one still valid?
And: If we get the date, when will we get it?

Your last email is still valid, I will send a reply to you asking if you still wish to participate, all you have to do is confirm. You will be informed of the dates. I am actually going to send out a poll to everyone involved and pick the dates for cities based on popularity. You will recieve that tonight, or in the morning, depending on your time zone.
