Hopefully. I'm still visiting SF0 every now and then.

Me and ENZero Sock have both done two tasks, but yet to upload. Anyway, I'm looking forward to it!

Apart from writing it in really big letters on the 2009 calendars (which is what I'm doing as soon as they're hanging on the wall), what sort of organisation?

I think anyone travelling a fair way probably need to see if they can actually make it, and sort out transport, accomodation etc.

(The dates are saved onto my phone =])

Accomodation.
Can you help me here, Tom...?
If there are any spaces available for free, I'm reserving one.

As for travel, I now know it takes around four and a half hours by car. Not sure if my Mum will be willing to take me (it's a bit further than MK). But I'm sure there'll be a train or something...

Planes to Norwich..

..are allways much more expensive, see about stansted or heathrow, then get a train or whatnot. Anyway, I haven't forgot about this. But any task suggestions would help. I'm guessing nobody objects to a JTTEOTN I think that was the original plan.

A JTTEOTN sounds good to me.
As for tasks, I'm sure we could do something with this
I might get around to searching for more later...

Minch, if there are any better London-Norwich travel options than the train from Liverpool Street which I imagine I'll be using for part of my journey, let me know...

posted by Minch on March 18th, 2009 6:16 PM

Sombrero, I will be taking that very train. But I would image the ride is only enhanced by the 14 hours on plane that precedes it.

(no subject)
posted by Sombrero Guy on March 19th, 2009 2:38 PM

14 hours? Ouch.
And there I was thinking that a six hour train journey was bad...

And Tom: I have no idea. I thought I was leaving that to you lot :P
I would like to meet as many players as possible, and I suppose we have about a month to think of what we're actually going to do. It will probably depend on how many people you can gather at the same time etc...

my god, why haven't i gotten in on this discussion.

i've taken a cargo ship three times - twice across the mediterranean and once across the pacific. my friend took one across the atlantic - crossing the atlantic takes about 8 days and will cost you a cool $900 minimum. One way. it's not the cheap way to go. but if you want to get to london cheap, i've got sources.

if there are any Kyle Hamiltons out there, wanting to use their crazy deal finding skills, I say round trip to UK from SF for this event would be highly desired, and finding such a deal would result in copious amounts of adoration and gratitude.

Another random thought...
posted by Sombrero Guy on March 21st, 2009 5:00 AM

Is anyone else getting there by train via Liverpool Street station?
If so, we could try to coordinate journeys, and I'm sure we could find something to keep us occupied on the train...

In the (admittedly unlikely) event that I make it, I will probably be getting a flight to Heathrow/Luton. I hear Heathrow -> Liverpool St. -> GY is the best option?

(no subject)
posted by Sombrero Guy on March 21st, 2009 5:49 AM

I believe that's what Minch has done.
Unfortunately that last part isn't direct, it actually goes Liverpool Street -> Norwich -> GY.
But yes, it's probably the best route from London.

(no subject)
posted by Tøm on March 21st, 2009 12:20 PM

You're always gonna go through Norwich for GY really :)

(no subject)
posted by Adam on March 21st, 2009 2:48 PM

Basically it will take you 15 mins to get into London on the Heathrow Express (45 on the tube), then about 30 mins to cross London, 2 and a half hours to Norwich, 45 mins to Yarmouth.

That's 4 and a half hours from Heathrow to Yarmouth which isn't too bad. There is a way to do it through Kings Cross, Ely, Norwich but I wouldn't reccommend that unless you are flying in from Stansted.

I know I've asked this before, but is anyone else travelling by train through London, and if so, what time are you likely to be changing from one London station to the other?
I want to book these tickets as soon as possible to avoid any problems (and get them cheap), and other people's train times could influence which tickets I book...

I am going to have to do this aren't I, won't Adam still be in SF?

I will sort this out, I did voulenteer.

I may make a new event to sort out who can definatly come, cause this was set up a long time ago.

My advice for those coming down from elsewhere is to sort out travel/accomodation (if needed), and GY0 will plan the events. And I'll probably no doubt have to fund it.
