Description:

THIS IS A CALL TO ALL THE DECENT AND RESPECTABLE CITIZENS OF SF0
Some of you have recently expressed regret at the current state of the SF0 point economy.
I would like to stress that the fundamentals of the economy are strong. Zeroians are still by far the most productive citizens of the entire internet.
However, point growth has been slow in recent times. I understand that it has become difficult to provide much needed points to feed your family at night. Real people all over this community are wondering, "How am I going to pay for that 8% damage increase, let alone all those forged birth certificates?".

But I have a plan.
The only way to get out point economy back on track is to increase the number of points in circulation.

This means that all true and faithful Zerioans need to keep the faith, stay strong, and GO VOTING.

The only way we can keep this great economy going is to keep investing our points in it. In order to maintain a leadership position in the community of internets, we need to stay competitive.

Spend your points, recklessly and exuberantly! Our very well-being as a community depends on it.

NEED I REMIND YOU OF THE CONSEQUENCES?

They're holding it in right now, but if you don't grow the economy these men will come to your house and throw up all over your nice, new floor.

Saving points for the future is reckless and, frankly, unpatriotic.
Keep tasking, and keep spending.
I have faith that you will all do your duty.

You can get a loan on votes if you post a task just long enough to vote (make sure you delete it quickly). However if this practice becomes widespread, the vote equity of the general population will soon plummet. And we will only worsen our voting recession

i currently have - 4 votes

KYLE! In honor of your return, let it be known that you can now add more points to a previously-cast vote (the 5pt cap remains in effect).

Voting deregulation is a positive step.

Now we need a vote tax rate of less than 66.6%!
NO NEW TAXES UNTIL WE KNOW WHAT SSI ARE DOING WITH OUR VOTES!

I spend my vote points as soon as I get them. The most my bank will ever hold is 4, and thats assuming I'm waiting to give something a 5pt vote.

I suppose once I've caught up on voting for all the posted praxis I might have more of a bank though.

That's kinda f*cked-up that what Lowteck proposed actually works.

Proposed vote point measure +2
posted by Morte on October 10th, 2008 10:54 AM

Why not combine the voting system of the last era with the voting system of this era? Make it so you have unlimited vote points, but that you can award each praxis between 1 and 5 points depending on how much you think it's worth? That way you can express you level of admiration for the task and not have to worry about 'vote hoarding'.

Stop-gap Measure +8

In the mean time, I encourage players to vote for collaborative efforts with gusto, and watch vote-points multiply. Every collaborator on a praxis you vote for gets one-third of the points you gave them, so if there are more than three collaborators, the amount of vote-points in the economy increases. Collaboration is the key to our vote-point crisis, and coupled with sound investment in short-term bonds and annuities this plan will ensure our best days are ahead of us, not behind us.

Holy frick, he's right!

I never thought about collaboration! All of our vote worries are over!

Does this mean that we should only vote on collaborative tasks?

Because that would be awesome.

Voting only for collaborative tasks would be bad news for people like me, but more economical for the game in general...

I'm not sure where my loyalties lie here...

I would be against voting solely for collaborative tasks, but I would certainly endorse placing a much larger emphasis on collaboration than there has been in the past.

Yes. That.

Plenty of tasks can involve collaboration of distant players -- the postal service is quite reliable, and most tasks don't even require exchange of physical goods. Communication and cooperation are often good enough.
