March 15th, 2009 @ 12:00am

Where:

Activity:

Description:

The Ides of March already has a past historical significance. Can we give it a future significance?
My idea is that we create a group of players from all over the world and come up with a global future event which connects all the towns and cities of the players involved.
Each player then makes a plaque to attach to a building or object of their choice in their city, explaining its significance to the future event.
Everyone then puts their plaque up on the same day; 15th March.

Assuming there are a few people interested in taking part, we can wait until we know who, and then decide what kind of future event could connect all the towns and cities involved.
Discussion in the comments below.

The small print: Be warned, I have never organised anything which has gone entirely to plan. For this reason, I was originally reluctant to try arranging this, but I was persuaded that it was a good idea. So I will now go ahead with it and hope that, if I try enough times, something I organise will eventually work...

I think Rome could use a re-definition of the Ides. Count me in. It will be my legacy to this city before departing.

It's probably about time to decide on what the event will be.
Forgive my ignorance, but I do not know which city or town some of you are from. Could you please inform me of this (or the city you will be in on the 15th) below, along with any ideas for a globally significant event which we can use to connect all the locations.

To start, I live in Bournemouth, UK. There a few things I can think of for global events, but they are a little obvious. Some kind of war or a natural disaster could affect the whole world.
Maybe someone can come up with something a bit more original...

Great Yarmouth may have a Kristina at the same time as the rest of GYZero.

I live in Santa Clara - the heart of the Silicon Valley and about twenty miles south of the Tower. We make microchips, and things that make microchips, and things that run on microchips, and indian food. The city's best use - narratively speaking - is probably as fallout for whatever happens in San Francisco.

Zombie Apocalypse. Dec. 21, 2012.
Just saying.

We could totally commemorate significant heroic sacrifices, last stands, triumphant victories (read: brief periods of survival), etc.

We could even develop a cast of a few significant characters to commemorate the exploits of.

Mayans? Zombies? Ides of March?

Are you suggesting this be offset by 9 months to get more players in on commemorating the end of the Mayan calendar? Or put up on the Ides of March something unrelated to March 15th?

Also, this is fairly soon... have plans been passed back and forth by private message? I'm in Lincoln's neck of the woods on the 15th, I could collaborate onto this if something is happening that soon. Update?
