Description:
Cruel 2B Kind, the game of benevolent assassination, is a street game designed and developed by Jane Bogost and Ian McGonigal. It's like a short-duration game of assassins, except that the weapons are random acts of kindness. Bystanders will be caught in the crossfire, but that's part of the fun - just think, a small knot of people walking up to you on the street and complimenting your shoes in unison.
Learn the game at http://www.cruelgame.com and register by contacting NCPublicPlay@gmail.com (an account I've made for use with this and other possible future street games in this state).

Yes, but it's not played at 2am, so my mother might actually be persuaded to let me make the trip.
2am? Vena, you don't have to stay for the after-party just because we're all having a great time. You can go home when Journey is over and not miss your particular bedtime.
Indeed, this iteration of C2BK starts at the same hour as many Journeys but has an endpoint of 9:00. In general, this is a much smaller production. (That, in fact, is why it's what I'm running right now... I'm hoping to put together something bigger that wants more lead time, probably A&U, but I want to have the students in town so absent enough time now to have it happen in the spring I'm not doing that one until the fall.)
...I asked her and she just sighed. She wants to know why people don't do things in the summer. ...I might buy her some ice cream and ask again.
Bring her along!
(Also: because in the summer, fewer of the local college students are around to hopefully recruit as players.)

I know that, unlike Journey, this event isn't the sort of thing that prompts people to travel cross-country to play (usually - we did get Dax and Spidere to join us in Minneapolis), but I'm pretty sure we've got a couple people within day-trip range.
