Events / Journey To The End Of The Night Los Angeles: 5 Years Running
When:May 5th, 2012 @ 6:30pm

Where:
Rio de Los Angeles State Park
1900 San Fernando Road Los Angeles, CA 90065
Enrollment
9/unlimited
Organizer:
Lincøln
Description:
The city spreads out before you. Rushing from point to point, lit by the slow strobe of fluorescent buses and dark streets. Stumbling into situations for a stranger’s signature. Fleeing unknown pursuers, breathing hard, admiring the landscape and the multitude of worlds hidden in it. For one night, drop your relations, your work and leisure activities, and all your usual motives for movement and action, and let yourself be drawn by the attractions of the chase and the encounters you find there.
Journey to the End of the Night is a free street game of epic proportion run by hard-working volunteers in cities around the world. The game is a pursuit across the city in multiple parts.
Registration for the game starts at 6:30 PM on May 5th in Rio de Los Angeles Park. But please do not park in the actual park parking lot, because the park will close before the Journey ends.
Please wear comfortable shoes (or none at all), and perhaps bring a bottle of water. Players will try to make it through a series of checkpoints, while avoiding being caught by chasers. Those who get caught will become chasers themselves, to pursue their former friends and allies. No skates, no bikes, no cars, just your feet and good old public transportation.
If any wonderful players in Los Angeles (or who will be in Los Angeles on May 5th) want to help out and volunteer (epic checkpoints anyone?), please message Lincoln on SFZero or email him at aaronfrancis@gmail.com.
Journey has been played by thousands of players around the world since 2006 thanks to the amazing SFZero players who have organized, planned checkpoints, volunteered and chased.
Please invite your friends! Invite your enemies! Invite everybody you know! And join us for an amazing night!

If you would like to help in any way with this year's monumental fifth Los Angeles Journey, let me know. We'll need all the help we can get.
It hasn't been artified yet, so I'd hold off on linking to this too widely just yet, but here's the website we'll be putting on flyers: StreetGameLA.com
Very cool!
Will that site be the place to spread information for upcoming Journeys?
Upcoming L.A. Journeys, yes.
Everyone everywhere still has totheendofthenight.com
we can use it for whatever you'd like, C.M., if you've other ideas.
I'm also happy to consider the argument that the world has too many JTTEON websites as it is, and it's stupid to create another one, duplicating effort and diluting search engine results. The argument for having one is that creating an email list for potential LA players seems vital to building a following, and forcing someone else to maintain such a list seems unkind and likely to fail. But, if someone feels strongly we're being stupid and ought not to this, do say so.
Just to toss my $.02 in here, totheendofthenight.com used to run off of a crude custom CMS that let other-city Journey organizers post info about their games. It was kinda wonky, though, and it forced everyone into the same layout and structure. We moved off of that when Sam and Ian put together the new style.
Since then, I've thought through schemes for having all journeys under one roof, and I'm not sure it's worth it. It'd be great for the game in general, but I don't think it would help the individual cities much (e.g. people going to find out about DC probably won't jet out to LA). It would probably mean at least one extra click for, say, LA people to go from the general-Journey front page to info about the LA run in particular, and everyone would have to have roughly the same look.
A happy medium might be a way for other people to add the basic details for their event to the upcoming list on totheendofthenight.com, maybe with some kind of schedule widget that people could put on their city's site. I do think hosting an organizer wiki and some common resources (a link to the font, the silhouettes, Dax's painting, etc, etc) would be great additions to the current main site, though.
I've been jetting out to Budapest, Vienna and Berlin so far and would approve of finding any kind of calendar. It could well include other street games and festivals.
Contemplating rolling (or flying) down from SF for this. When are they going to get around to building that high-speed rail, anyway?
If you have a mind to share this with folks who aren't signed up on sf0, our man Loki has created a bookface event page.
Just to be clear - Lincoln and his army of secret agents are doing all the hard work to make this happen. anna one and I are just helping out with the advertizing.
But, yeah - tell all your friends, your enemies, and strangers you meet on the street. We're aiming to make this one unruly big.
Also, should any SF0 folks want to come to our city, we can set you up with crash space.
Crash space. Yes, I can offer that as well.
Is there going to be a task to go with this? I'll be wanting somewhere to put pictures. :D
Four years of giving aid and succor to weary Runners. No more. This year C.M. Gonzalez will join the hunt and Chase any and all through these city streets with the ferocity and perseverance of a cassowary.
