Events / The SFZero Penny Push
When:March 25th, 2008 @ 12:00am
Where:
Rockin' All Over T'World
Lichfield Road, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, UK
Activity:
One Cent
Enrollment
53/100
Organizer:
Adam
Description:

On the 25th March 2008 I will be sending a penny to an, as yet, undecided member of SF0 and from there this singular British penny will be on a mission to travel across the States and indeed the world.
I want to try and create a massive chain stretching across the SFZero players of Earth and then back to the UK in an attempt to complete
One Cent.
Here is the plan.
Anyone interested in being involved will be collaborated into the One Cent task and from there you can add your name to the list that will be created. In order to keep people's addresses private only the person passing on the penny will know the address of the person they are passing it to.
They will need to message the next person in the chain when they recieve the penny in order to keep the chain going.
The idea being that eventually the penny will end up back at Lichfield Road, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, UK after a very exciting trip.
We do have a contingency plan should it be lost. Please don't.
We will be able to keep track of the penny as I will be creating a Google Map tracking it's process. Very high-tech I know.

I think it should be joined by pennies from the other countries it gets to. Which should include the States, South Korea, the Netherlands... any other countries where people are playing SF0?
Each player could add a penny from their country!
Yes Mr Fish, I think you've got it.
Well that's all fine and well but it might end up being a bit heavy. I wouldn't want to be the one lumbered with sending a package with 10 pennies from the US to the UK.
Maybe just add a little note into the package as opposed to a penny it will end up being lighter and more personal. Hopefuly it should end up back here and I will frame it and add it to my SFZero wall of fame with bits from giant monopoly and Public Surface.
So about ten minutes ago, I think to myself, "Hey, it'd be quite cool if I ran an event to get the penny around as much as possible."
Five minutes later, I had the event created.
Two minutes later, I scrolled up.
/facepalm
Haha! I kept checking the event list as I was writing this as I knew someone would have exactly the same idea. I got here first and with a graphic and everything.
:D
This happened around the lecture hall yesterday.
A high school set a penny going round, it ended up being handed to someone on our coach on the way out and was still being passed around today!

10 pennies? God forbid.
Not that you would Adam, seeing as you're first and last.
For some reason it is not allowing me to add sf0 warrior to the task.
Is it because they haven't completed any tasks in this era?
Sorry about that.
They're already signed up for it themselves, they need to drop it.
Just added most people to the task. If you are not on the task but you are signed up please do message me or post here and I'll sort it.
Also now your'e signed up to the task don't forget to add your name to the list in the task itself.
Looks like fun! I think everyone should also photograph themselves with the penny for the praxis.
Oh, I also think that people should wrap the penny well, because sometimes mail sorters will just rip envelopes open if there is something hard enclosed without sufficient padding around it. And it would be really sad to get an empty envelope.
I suggest using a jiffy envelope and people just putting a sticker over the address label. Good for't enviroment too.
"I think everyone should also photograph themselves with the penny for the praxis." - I second this!
"Maybe just add a little note into the package" I also second this!

Thirded.
I only have 14 out of 34 people who have added themselves to the list on the task page.
Please go and do it. Saves me alot of effort.
The task will commence on the 25th March and I think I'll send my penny to Lincoln.
Is the penny being sent in the order that our names are on the task page?
Take some relatively thick card and cut a hole in the middle, then put the penny in place and tape it in position. Then the mail sorters won't realise that there is a penny and will think you're just posting a card or something.
Vicki: Yes it is but you are welcome to jig the list around if you have any particular preference.
Sombrero: Really good idea, Ill get hold of some. Everyone can sign the card.
I'm fine with sending it on to someone far away, but I think my mother would prefer me not to give my address to someone I don't know *damn being 15*
Just a note for me so I don't get confused.
The list of people on this page should be 3 longer than the list on the task page as Sf0 Warrior and Slightly Delightful need to drop the task and I am not included.
Fine.
God I get confused easily.
Whatever happened to this? I'm not signed up for it, but I still wanna play...

its happening, just not in a timely manner.
if your name is on the list in the task description, you will eventually get it. you will have to wait a long time. 40 players signed up and its going at a rate of about 1-2 months per player (I was no help there). Expect it sometime in 2010.
now it seems to be stuck in Chicago with zeroGee
Nope. Last I heard, The Animus had it and was waiting for the address of his sendee.

Oh yes.
Travel little penny!
