Description:

Get ready for adventure!
Page_1.jpgThe city spreads out before you. Rushing from point to point, lit by the slow strobe of fluorescent buses and dark streets. Stumbling into situations for a stranger's signature. Fleeing unknown pursuers, breathing hard, admiring the landscape and the multitude of worlds hidden in it.

For one night, drop your relations, your work and leisure activities, and all your usual motives for movement and action, and let yourself be drawn by the attractions of the chase and the encounters you find there.

A thrilling pursuit through the heart of Hollywoodland. No skates, no bikes, no cars, just your two feet and public transportation. Bring some water, possibly a camera, and comfortable shoes (or maybe no shoes) - leave everything else at home.

Any out-of-town SFZero players traveling to Los Angeles are welcome and encouraged to come and participate. Please contact Lincoln if you need a place to crash when you get into town and we'll see if we can't make arrangements for you.

You know, sometimes what gets modded up seems really random. "I wish I could go to Journey!" is not something I expected people would have much of an opinion of at all, really; shows what I know.

anyone carpooling down from SF? or want to? i don't have a car, but renting one would be a possibility, and much more fun with roadtripers.

I know. I first canceled due to stupid insomnia catching up with me beginning of this week, then turns out my boss was fired on tuesday due to "restructuring" and now i am moving to a new department ... so i wouldn't have been able to take the day off anyway.

very sad. BUT, there is a prom coming up, so my spirits are not totally dashed.

Hello LAers,

Myself, Lowtech, Loki, and Sturm und Drang are driving down... we have a yard to camp in, but on the off chance anyone has an actual carpet or sofa to share... well, we would be most grateful for the step up in accommodations.

Love,
Minch

Oh holy cow! Look at that list. It keeps getting bigger, and that's just the folks who're players.

Now what?
posted by lefthandedsnail on July 6th, 2008 2:50 PM

Having never done this before I want to get all kinds of started!
Where do we meet? Should I bring snacks to share? Would an inflatable rubber raft weigh me down too much?

To all who are participating:

A lot of people, even those living here tend to forget, Los Angeles is in a desert. For all that the city is often regularly covered with a cool, low Marine layer in the mornings, it still gets good and hot.

You are going to be running around a lot. Please make sure you carry water with you. A water bottle of a size you are comfortable lugging with you will treat you fine.

I would advise against bringing an inflatable rubber raft.

I advise you to bring an inflatable rubber raft, and perhaps a spare in case.

soooooo. . . . where is this thing?

I'm all in favor of arbitrary rendezvous, but a starting location would certainly make it easier to advertise.

The spot where the plot gets hot.
posted by Jellybean of Thark on July 10th, 2008 8:44 PM

The starting line is in Griffith Park at the Los Feliz Blvd and Fern Dell Dr. entrance. Meet us at 6pm this Saturday.

there and back
posted by lefthandedsnail on July 11th, 2008 6:17 AM

Since the end time is right in the middle of the four hour service gap for the subway, I suppose I'll have to drive. That means I'll have to park. Any recomendations?

(no subject)
posted by Jellybean of Thark on July 11th, 2008 7:41 AM

Find you parking near the starting line. Don't worry, someone will be able to get you a ride back to your car.

24 hours remain.

Oh, and I might need a ride back to the Greyhound station when it's all over.
