Description:
The annual underground convergence of firecracker aficionados at the only time and place where you can get away with it; the heart of Chinatown during the days surrounding Chinese New Year festivities. Eye and ear protection is a must. A nonflammable hat and a leather coat with the collar sealed at the neck is recommended. Meet on the 900 block of Grant, between Washington and Jackson. Try to act nonchalant, like a tourist. All hell breaks loose at midnight.

Sadly, I will be out of town, but I will use my absence to fulfill a reconnaissance mission to DC's Chinatown. Report will follow.

ooh, this will take the place of Guy Fawkes night that I have been missing out on. Anyone know if sparklers are legal in this state?

If I could afford beverages, I'd be there as well. Unfortunately I have no bank account to speak of, and am scrounging for bus fare just to get there...

My class gets out at 9:45 from the academy of art. Its about half a block north on powell from sutter on the east side (right side if you're walking from bart). THere's a big stair entrance that we can meet in.
